What they're saying
"

Last week, Drew McIntyre made it sound like he wasn’t thinking about his first WWE appearance since April. The former multi-time World champ has been away filming movies with stars like Russell Crowe and Henry Cavill, and told us that “Hollywood Drew” was his current priority. And he didn’t change his tune when he joined WWE Radio’s Busted Open crew yesterday (Oct. 19), but McIntyre’s latest appearance made it seem like “Hollywood Drew” is a character we’ll see on Raw or SmackDown someday. The Big Scot made it clear it’s “when” he returns to the ring, not “if”: “The way old Hollywood Drew sees it right now, I don’t need the fans. I don’t need WWE. Hollywood came and got this guy. Y’all need me. I’m gonna decide when I come back, and when I come back, it’s gonna be friggin’ big.” One of the more interest-grabbing quotes from McIntyre’s talk with Dave LaGreca and Bully Ray involved a “joke” about former WWE CEO Vince McMahon using mob-like tactics to keep the film & television industry away from his talent. And even that ends up being another tease for the movie star version of Big D’s return to pro wrestling: “A lot of people have talked about it, Vince was very much like, ‘I need you here.’ “To be fair, we had so many live events back in the day. My entire life, up until the past few years, was wrestling wrestling every single week, 52 weeks a year, three times a week — minimum. So we really needed people who were bigger stars to advertise on the live events to sell those tickets. I get it, but there were some big opportunities. I won’t say some names, but the biggest names of all and the biggest names of all time. Vince called and threatened to murder agents, I believe, trying to get me in some projects [laughs]. He was very much in that mindset. Like I said, [WWE president] Nick [Khan] and [WWE chief creative officer] Paul [“Triple H” Levesque] are very much of the mindset that if it makes sense and helps everybody, and helps my brand — which helps their brand. “Cause I’m not going anywhere anytime soon… it’s just whenever I decide to bring Hollywood Drew back to WWE, it’s gonna get rollin’, and it’s gonna get rollin’ fast and big.” Excited for Hollywood Drew to show up on a Monday or Friday night? Think it will be soon? How much of an exaggeration do you think the Vince story is? Let us know in the comments.
