Drew Thelwell, former guard for the Iowa basketball team, has been named to Team Jamaica’s qualifying roster for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Currently playing for Pau-Lacq-Orthez in the French Élite 2 league, Thelwell averaged 10.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists this past season. His successful stint at Iowa included averages of 9.5 points and 41.2% shooting from three-point range during the 2024-25 season. Thelwell's skills are expected to enhance Jamaica's prospects as they pursue qualification for the World Cup.
