Dunlap 12U Eagles honor teammate's late father with special jerseys

The Dunlap 12U Eagles baseball team had a notable season, finishing 23-12 and reaching championship games in four of five tournaments. In a tribute to teammate Elliott Newell's late father, Shaun Newell, the Eagles designed jerseys featuring a Peoria skyline and the team's logo. Newell, who passed away last September after battling cancer, is remembered fondly by players. To fund the uniforms, the team bagged groceries, promoting a sense of community and shared values. The players wore the jerseys not only during games but also on a team trip to a St. Louis Cardinals game.
