Mitch Griffis has been named the starting quarterback for East Carolina's Week 1 game against Alabama on September 5. Emory Williams, who also transferred to ECU, is expected to see playing time. Griffis, a seasoned player with experience at Wake Forest and Texas Tech, steps into the role following the departure of two-year starter Katin Houser. Griffis has recorded 2,314 career passing yards and 17 touchdown passes. Williams brings two starts and 813 passing yards from his time at Miami.
