Echo Sports offers 9 million dollars toward new Oklahoma City stadium

Echo Sports, the investment group owning the OKC United soccer team, has proposed a 9 million dollar contribution toward construction of the future Oklahoma City soccer stadium. The funding aims to cover rising project costs, with a request for the city to provide a matching amount to address budget increases. The 10,000-seat venue, which serves as a MAPS 4 project, has a current budget of 121 million dollars, though the new agreement could potentially raise the total project budget to 137 million dollars. Site work began this summer on nine acres donated by the owners, with building construction scheduled to commence this winter. The MAPS 4 citizens oversight board is set to review the proposal on September 3, followed by a potential vote by the Oklahoma City Council. The stadium is intended to host OKC United matches, a future women’s team, concerts, and local athletic events.
