Eddie Alvarez analyzes UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje’s potential title challengers

Former UFC champion Eddie Alvarez shared his assessment regarding the stylistic challenges posed by Arman Tsarukyan and Mauricio Ruffy for reigning lightweight champion Justin Gaethje. Although Tsarukyan and Ruffy are scheduled to meet in a No. 1 contender bout at UFC 331 on September 19, Alvarez contends that Ruffy presents a more difficult stylistic matchup for Gaethje than Tsarukyan does. Alvarez highlighted Ruffy’s precise boxing and range control as the primary factors that could trouble the champion. Despite this, he noted that Tsarukyan remains a more well-rounded fighter and is likely to win their upcoming matchup at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Gaethje is currently not scheduled to compete again until 2027 following his title victory over Ilia Topuria at UFC Freedom 250.
