Eddie Alvarez suggests Conor McGregor faces difficulty exiting UFC contract

Former Lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez stated that Conor McGregor faces a complicated path to leaving the UFC as he approaches the end of his contract. McGregor is currently sidelined with a knee injury sustained during a loss to Max Holloway at UFC 329 this past July. Alvarez, who previously dealt with legal complications during his own transition between promotions, suggested that the UFC views the fighter as a primary asset and may attempt to diminish his market value through challenging matchups before his release. With only one bout remaining on his current deal, the potential for a disagreement regarding future opponents is high. McGregor holds a financial stake in BKFC, though the UFC must first determine if the fighter will be permitted to depart the organization. McGregor remains under medical recovery following surgery for an ACL injury.
