Eddie Hearn announces partnership with MVP to boost women's boxing

Here, Hearn gives an honest account of his inability to deliver the biggest fights for some of his fighters, which necessitated this alliance if he’s to provide the best opportunities to his biggest talent. “I’ve been starting to look at some of our bigger names and our champions and looking at how we can move them and how we can actually create a little bit of legacy and opportunities in the biggest fights for them,” Hearn said. “Basically I look at their roster, they’ve pretty much got everybody and I can’t guarantee that I can provide those fighters with opportunities to unify, become undisputed, make the most money they can in the sport if MVP have 90% of the roster of women’s boxing. “So when Nakisa came to me a while ago…I said ‘I think we need to do it’. So the partnership, the alliance — we stay in women’s boxing, and we continue to invest in women’s boxing, there’s no doubt about it…Certainly a large number of our bigger name fighters will be moving over now with MVP with our direction, with our partnership, and you will see them on MVP shows to get those opportunities to unify, etc. “We need to be in those big fights, and I can’t deliver those big fights for them if they’re all with MVP. And MVP want to wrap up women’s boxing, and to be honest I’m up for helping them because I think what they’re doing is really cool and I think the opportunities for women are fantastic.”
