Edge rusher Sam Greene prepares for 2026 season with Kentucky football

The Kentucky football team opens its 2026 season in two days, marking the beginning of the Will Stein coaching era. As part of the roster review leading up to the opener, the team is highlighting edge rusher Sam Greene. The Washington, D.C. native initially signed with USC in 2023, where he redshirted and recorded three tackles for a loss and one sack during the 2024 season. After entering the transfer portal and joining Kentucky, Greene appeared in nine games during the 2025 campaign, recording 25 tackles and one sack before a season-ending injury. The Kentucky coaching staff is looking for improved pass rush consistency this year. If Greene remains healthy, he is expected to play a significant role in the defensive rotation as he aims for a productive season.
