Edgerrin Cooper takes on larger role in Packers defense in 2025

Summary

Edgerrin Cooper's second season with the Green Bay Packers featured a shift to a full-time role on the defense during the 2025 NFL season. He started 17 games and saw his snap count nearly double, but his production in splash plays declined. Cooper recorded only one sack and two quarterback hits, a drop from his rookie season's totals. Despite a decrease in pass-rushing effectiveness, his coverage skills improved, evidenced by better per-snap statistics. With new coordinator Jonathan Gannon experimenting with Cooper's role, the 2026 season presents an opportunity for Cooper to balance his playmaking instincts with defensive responsibilities.
