Edson Álvarez remains at West Ham United after rejecting Club América transfer

West Ham United midfielder Edson Álvarez has declined a return to Club América ahead of the Mexican transfer window closing on September 11. The 28-year-old international previously spent time on loan at Fenerbahçe during the 2025/26 campaign, where he made 34 appearances. Since returning to London, he has played one match for West Ham United, featuring for 75 minutes in an EFL Cup victory over Portsmouth. Nuno Espírito Santo has omitted him from all four Championship matchday squads this season. Despite interest from Ajax, Real Sociedad, and Olympiacos, no deal materialized before the English transfer window closed. The club currently intends to keep the midfielder in training rather than force him into the competitive rotation, protecting his contract value through June 2028.
