Edu leaves Nottingham Forest as club terminates contract

Global head of football Edu has departed Nottingham Forest after just over one year at the City Ground. The former Arsenal midfielder had not attended a match since February, and his contract is believed to have been terminated. His position faced significant scrutiny following internal tensions, including a reported falling-out with former manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who was sacked last September. Edu’s role encompassed football operations for Nottingham Forest, Olympiacos, and Rio Ave, all of which are owned by Evangelos Marinakis. He will not be replaced at the City Ground, as chief football officer George Syrianos is set to assume his responsibilities. This organizational shift follows the recent appointment of Theodore Giannikos as chief executive, who succeeded the outgoing Lina Souloukou.
