Edwin Diaz and Roki Sasaki progress toward Los Angeles Dodgers return

The Los Angeles Dodgers are nearing the potential return of pitchers Edwin Diaz and Roki Sasaki from the injured list. Diaz, who has been sidelined with neck inflammation since August 18, is scheduled to make back-to-back appearances starting Wednesday in a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City. If successful, he could rejoin the major league roster as early as Sunday. Sasaki is also targeting the club’s upcoming road trip for his return after being placed on the injured list with a finger blister on August 26. While both pitchers are currently ineligible to return, they continue to work through their respective recovery programs. Manager Dave Roberts has indicated that Diaz will likely work in lower-leverage roles upon his return to the team.
