Emmett Johnson earns number two running back spot with Kansas City Chiefs

Former Nebraska running back Emmett Johnson has secured the backup running back position on the Kansas City Chiefs depth chart. Head coach Andy Reid cited the rookie's improvement in pass protection as a primary factor in the decision following his performance during training camp and preseason. Over the preseason, Johnson recorded 26 carries for 123 rushing yards and one touchdown. Reid emphasized that while the team was aware of Johnson's running ability, his aptitude for blocking was necessary to secure the position behind starter Kenneth Walker. Johnson is now expected to take on a larger role within the team's offense as the season progresses.
