Enes Kanter Freedom details private text exchange with Sophie Cunningham

Enes Kanter Freedom stated he exchanged text messages with Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham following his August 23 ejection from a game against the Chicago Sky. Freedom said he was attending the game at Wintrust Arena to support Cunningham when he became involved in a verbal confrontation with Chicago Sky guard Natasha Cloud. Security removed Freedom from the arena after he stood and approached the court. He has since filed a federal lawsuit against the Chicago Sky and other defendants, alleging his First Amendment rights were violated during the removal. Chicago Sky owner Michael Alter characterized the lawsuit as meritless and maintained that the removal was based solely on Freedom's conduct during the event. Freedom continues to advocate for his inclusion in the WNBA and has called for a public discussion with Commissioner Cathy Engelbert regarding league eligibility policies.
