England appoints Kevin Pietersen as white-ball team specialist mentor

The England and Wales Cricket Board has appointed former captain Kevin Pietersen as a specialist mentor for its men’s white-ball teams. This 12-month appointment marks a significant reconciliation for the board, as Pietersen had not been involved with the setup since his 2014 departure following a 5-0 Ashes series defeat. The role encompasses the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, winter tours of Australia and South Africa, and international series against Pakistan and New Zealand. His tenure concludes with the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Brendon McCullum, the current head coach, stated the appointment aims to integrate Pietersen's international experience into the current white-ball coaching staff.
