England prepares for knockout stage against DR Congo in World Cup

Summary

England faces DR Congo in Atlanta on Wednesday as the World Cup knockout stage begins. Head coach Thomas Tuchel has described this phase as the "third chapter" in his mission for a historic title since 1966. After topping Group L, England's road has included wins against Croatia and Panama, but a goalless draw with Ghana raised concerns. Defensive issues may complicate their efforts, as key players Reece James and Jarell Quansah are confirmed out due to injuries. Tuchel faces scrutiny in team selection as he aims to navigate the sudden-death rounds.
