ESPN selected the Washington State University Ol’ Crimson flag as the first inductee into the College GameDay Hall of Fan. The recognition acknowledges a tradition that has spanned 338 consecutive broadcasts of the pregame show. The flag’s presence began in 2003 when WSU alumnus Tom Pounds waved it during a broadcast in Austin, Texas. Over the following 24 seasons, a network of volunteers and alumni has coordinated the movement of the flag to every site hosting the show. Current logistics lead CJ McCoy noted that many participants originally began following the tradition as children. The award was presented as the flag maintained its streak during Saturday's broadcast.
