ESPN identifies Travis Hunter as Jacksonville Jaguars X-factor for 2026 season

ESPN analyst Ben Solak designated Travis Hunter as the X-factor for the Jacksonville Jaguars heading into the 2026 NFL season. The analysis excludes quarterbacks, coaches, and rookies, focusing instead on players capable of shifting outcomes through individual performance. Solak highlights Hunter’s ability to generate turnovers as a defensive back, particularly within the zone-heavy scheme directed by coordinator Anthony Campanile. While Hunter may face feast-or-famine scenarios early in his development, his capacity to anticipate route combinations is expected to produce significant defensive results. On the offensive side, his role remains limited due to the current depth at wide receiver, though he could see increased snaps if Parker Washington, Jakobi Meyers, or Brian Thomas Jr. face injuries. Coaching staff decisions regarding weekly matchups will ultimately determine his offensive participation throughout the campaign.
