ESPN ranks Trent McDuffie among NFL top 50 players before season start

Summary

ESPN named Los Angeles Rams cornerback Trent McDuffie as the 41st-best player in the NFL one week before the 2026 season opener. The ranking follows the Rams' acquisition of the two-time All-Pro from the Kansas City Chiefs in a trade involving four draft picks. McDuffie signed a $120 million contract extension with the team in March. During training camp, teammate Davante Adams noted the defensive back's technical precision and ability to read route patterns. Projections for his 2026 campaign include 91 tackles, 11 pass breakups, and two interceptions. The Rams are preparing to open their season with a goal of winning the Super Bowl on their home field.
