The UFC’s next numbered event, scheduled for July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, lost a fighter as surging bantamweight contender Ethyn Ewing has been removed from the contest due to an undisclosed injury, multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting. Best Fight Picks first confirmed the news on Twitter. UFC officials are actively seeking a replacement to face Basharat at the promotion’s International Fight Week event. Basharat is 15-0 as a pro, including a 6-0 start to his UFC run. In his most recent bout, the 28-year-old got the nod with a razor-close split decision over Jean Matsumoto at UFC Vegas 113 in February. Ewing, a former A1 Combat champion, is 2-0 inside the octagon, including a big upset win on short notice against Malcolm Wellmaker at UFC 322 this past November in his UFC debut. Ewing followed that up with a nasty liver kick knockout with over Rafael Estevam at April’s UFC Vegas 115 event. UFC 329 is headlined by the long-awaited return of former two-division champ Conor McGregor as he faces past featherweight and BMF champ Max Holloway in a rematch.
