ETSU defense seeks communication improvements following loss to Campbell

ETSU suffered a 49-37 loss to Campbell in the season opener on Saturday night at Greene Stadium. The Buccaneers surrendered 515 total yards, as the Campbell offense consistently exposed gaps in the ETSU secondary. Head coach Will Healy expressed frustration with the defensive performance, citing a lack of stability in the secondary throughout the game. Linebacker Dre Delinois recorded 11 tackles but identified defensive communication as a primary failing during the contest. Despite the loss, the ETSU offense showed progress, accumulating 528 total yards while quarterback Mason Mims established a program record with 33 completions in his collegiate debut. The Buccaneers look to recover when they host Tusculum on Saturday, Sept. 5.
