Everton declined a two million pound deal for Ethan Wheatley

Everton considered a move for Manchester United academy graduate Ethan Wheatley on transfer deadline day. The club had reached an agreement for the 20-year-old striker on a 2 million pound deal before choosing to prioritize other areas of the squad. Everton also attempted to secure Joshua Zirkzee on loan from Manchester United, but the proposal was rejected as the club could not secure a replacement in time. Ethan Wheatley has since joined Lincoln City on a season-long loan agreement. The forward previously made his first team debut for Manchester United and recorded four senior appearances under Erik ten Hag and Ruud van Nistelrooy. He has struggled to establish himself this season, recording only a single five-minute substitute appearance in the EFL Cup.
