Everton drawn to face Preston North End in Carabao Cup Second Round

Everton will play away against Preston North End in the Second Round of the Carabao Cup, scheduled for either August 25th or 26th. Preston, who finished 14th in the Championship last season, advanced past Huddersfield in the first round via penalties. This marks the first meeting between the two sides since 2004, when Everton won 2-0 at home in the third round under then-manager David Moyes. Everton has never won the Cup in its history but reached the finals twice, in 1977 and 1984. They were eliminated in the Third Round last season, losing to Southampton on penalties after a draw in regulation.
