Everton plans to rely on current forwards until January transfer window

Everton will not pursue free-agent signings despite an acute shortage of options at striker following the close of the summer transfer window. The club offloaded Beto to Fiorentina but failed to finalize a deal for Folarin Balogun, which collapsed after concerns were raised regarding his medical. An emergency approach for Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee was also rejected. Manager David Moyes is currently left with Thierno Barry as the only recognized specialist center-forward. The club intends to rotate Brennan Johnson and Tyrique George in the position until reinforcements can be sought in January. The squad also faces depth concerns across other areas following several departures during the summer.
