Everton seeks to double non-sporting event limit at new stadium

Everton has applied to Liverpool City Council to increase the annual limit for non-football events at its new stadium from four to eight. The club's planning agent argues that relaxing these restrictions will attract more visitors and spending to the area, as well as support local jobs. The proposal aims to redefine event limits, allowing rugby games and similar fixtures to not count toward the cap. The application details that the increased events could boost the stadium’s operational jobs from 184 to 295 and raise its economic contribution from £4.9 million to £9.2 million annually. A decision on the application is still pending.
