Ewen Jaouen nearing deal with Newcastle this summer

Summary

Ewen Jaouen is being targeted by Newcastle United as a potential signing, with discussions progressing. While no official agreement has been reached yet, reports indicate that the club aims to finalize the move soon, marking Jaouen as potentially their first signing of the summer. The 24.2 million GBP transfer reflects Newcastle's strategy for swift acquisitions in the market. As a France Under-21 international, Jaouen has yet to debut in France's top division, raising questions about his role in the squad, especially with the future of current goalkeeper Nick Pope in question. More movements in the goalkeeping department are anticipated as Newcastle seeks to bolster its options.

What they're saying

"
Ewen Jaouen is a goalkeeping target for Newcastle. What we're hearing is it's not done yet but it is heading in that direction, so he could become Newcastle's first signing of the summer - but nothing official or finalised yet as we understand it. It is Newcastle's - and certainly Eddie Howe's - desire for fast movement in the market.
