F1 drivers use team simulators to prepare for the new Madring circuit

Formula 1 drivers are utilizing team simulators to learn the new Madring track ahead of this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix. Most of the grid has logged thousands of laps in driver-in-the-loop systems to navigate the 22-turn layout. While Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton previously sampled the venue during a brief filming day, the majority of drivers must rely on virtual modeling to understand the circuit's profile. Competitors like Oscar Piastri and Ollie Bearman noted that the simulator allows for aggressive limit-testing without the risk of real-world damage. However, drivers including Lando Norris and Nico Hulkenberg cautioned that virtual environments struggle to replicate the precise speed sensations and evolving grip levels of a new street circuit. Friday practice sessions will provide the first opportunity for teams to gather real-world data and calibrate their setups for the weekend.
