F1 reveals Sprint weekend format for 2026 season

The 2026 Formula 1 season will feature the Sprint weekend format at six events, including the Dutch Grand Prix in August. This format allows for a 100km race on Saturdays, following a qualifying session on Fridays. The points system remains unchanged, awarding a total of 36 points to the top eight finishers. Teams will also have a modified schedule, with a single practice session before qualifying for both the Sprint and Grand Prix on Saturday. The Sprint format was first introduced to enhance competition and engagement during selected race weekends.
