Falcons sign Zacch Pickens to practice squad and release Carlos Allen Jr

The Atlanta Falcons signed defensive tackle Zacch Pickens to the practice squad on Wednesday. Pickens, a former third-round selection by the Chicago Bears, worked out for the organization on Tuesday before finalizing the deal. In a corresponding transaction, the team released defensive lineman Carlos Allen Jr., who had signed as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft. Allen appeared in training camp and had competed for a spot on the 53-man roster. Atlanta also waived defensive back Darren Hall from the injured reserve list during the same period. The team prepares to open the regular season against the Pittsburgh Steelers in an away game scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
