Fantasy football analysts identified key quarterback starts for the opening week of the 2026 NFL season. Jared Goff is labeled as a top-five quarterback for Detroit in his home game against the Saints, following a season where he averaged 23.9 fantasy points per game at home. Reigning league MVP Matthew Stafford prepares for a matchup against the 49ers, building on a 2025 performance that included seven touchdowns in two games against that opponent. Trevor Lawrence also enters the week as a projected elite option after averaging 30.2 fantasy points during his final eight outings of the previous season. Baker Mayfield, who managed injuries late last year, is evaluated alongside these passers as the league schedule officially begins. These projections rely on historical data and specific matchup advantages heading into the initial slate of games.
- •Jared Goff is the top-ranked fantasy quarterback start for his home game against the Saints.
- •Matthew Stafford faces the 49ers in Australia coming off a season with 46 total touchdowns.
- •Trevor Lawrence projects as an elite fantasy option for his opening game at home against Cleveland.
- •Baker Mayfield remains a focus for fantasy managers following his return to health.
