FC Cincinnati acquire Julián Malatini on loan from Werder Bremen

FC Cincinnati announced the signing of defender Julián Malatini on Thursday. The 25-year-old Argentine center-back joins the club on loan from German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen. The agreement remains in effect through June 2027 and includes an option to purchase the player. General manager Chris Albright noted the defender's athleticism and experience in the German top flight as key factors in the move. Malatini recorded two goals and one assist across 34 appearances for Werder Bremen before this transition. He previously competed for CA Talleres and Defensa y Justicia in Argentina, accumulating 84 appearances across those organizations. FC Cincinnati holds sixth place in the Eastern Conference with 31 points and prepares for a home match against D.C. United this Saturday.
