Fenja Lawson claims discus championship at national junior event

Fenja Lawson of Langdon secured first place in the discus event at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championship on July 31 in Norwalk, California. Lawson achieved a throw of 133 feet 8 inches, edging out fellow competitor Addison Larson. Earlier, Larson had taken first in the same age division at the Region 8 Junior Olympic Championship on July 11. Lawson also competed in the AAU Junior Olympic Games in August, earning placements in both discus and shot put. Preparing for her sophomore year at Langdon Area High School, Lawson aims for top placements in the upcoming state meet.
