FIA confirms Red Bull-Ford as F1 power unit benchmark

The FIA announced that Red Bull-Ford Powertrains remains the benchmark for F1 after the Period 2 ADUO measurements on August 23, 2026. Following the tests, Mercedes, Audi, Ferrari, and Honda will have opportunities to upgrade their power units, with Mercedes needing to improve by 2% to 4% and Ferrari falling over 4% behind Red Bull. The regulations allow teams that are further off the benchmark two additional upgrades. The next ADUO review will cover upcoming races, and teams can implement upgrades as soon as next week's Italian Grand Prix.
