Fifa is expanding its use of AI for social media protection at the upcoming World Cup, set to begin next Thursday. This initiative aims to reduce the amount of abusive messages directed at teams and players. Following the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Fifa introduced a social media protection service and is offering its moderation for free to all football associations participating in the 2026 tournament.
