Filip Nowacki advances to 100m breaststroke semi-finals at Commonwealth Games

Filip Nowacki from Jersey has secured a place in the semi-finals of the 100m breaststroke at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, after winning his heat with a time of 59.93 seconds. This performance places him third-fastest overall, following Olympic gold medalist Adam Peaty and Australia's Sam Williamson. Nowacki aims to become the first Jersey swimmer to win a Commonwealth Games medal since 1990. In contrast, fellow Jersey swimmer Megan Hansford did not advance, finishing fifth in her heats. Other Jersey swimmers like Issac and Oscar Dodds also competed in the 200m individual medley, with Oscar placing 27th overall in the 50m backstroke. The swimming events continue with the semi-finals scheduled for Friday night.
