(Photo by Georgiana Dallas/WWE via Getty Images) | WWE via Getty Images Night two of SummerSlam was a great deal of fun for a number of reasons, not least of which the fact that Kevin Owens made his long awaited return to television to become the new number one contender to the WWE championship. The upcoming feud with CM Punk is going to feed families, you can believe that. Lost in all that, however, is the fact that Finn Balor was in that match, which was supposed to be a singles bout against Sami Zayn where he got himself back on the right track with regards to getting back to a major singles championship. Instead, GUNTHER showed up and then Owens, and Balor was mostly lost in the shuffle. His social media the past couple days has been a roller coaster of emotions, starting with indignation: Justice for Finn #summerslam pic.twitter.com/iWnVoiv7FQ — Finn Bálor (@FinnBalor) August 2, 2026 Before moving right on into despair: …in a nutshell pic.twitter.com/mEXBI0m1EB — Finn Bálor (@FinnBalor) August 4, 2026 And finally landing on determination: SOON pic.twitter.com/YCj3tABeVK — Finn Bálor (@FinnBalor) August 4, 2026 Balor is going to have to take a backseat for now but Punk has said he wants to work with him before he retires, and there’s no reason to think he won’t work his way back up the card. We’ll just have to wait and see how “soon” he can make it happen. Right?
