Fiorentina reaches verbal agreement to rehire coach Paolo Vanoli

Fiorentina is set to bring back Paolo Vanoli as head coach following the sacking of Fabio Grosso. The club announced the move on Sunday night after Grosso oversaw only four competitive matches this season. While the team secured one win in the Coppa Italia, they lost all three of their opening Serie A games, including recent defeats to Roma, Frosinone, and Torino. Vanoli previously served as caretaker coach from November 2025 through the 2025-26 campaign, during which he guided the club away from relegation. Despite that tenure, the team opted not to extend his contract last season in favor of hiring Grosso. Fabrizio Romano and several Italian news outlets report that a verbal agreement is now in place for Vanoli to return to the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
