Queensland's Fitzroy River will host rowing and canoe sprint events during the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. The river recently passed a technical assessment confirming its suitability despite its population of approximately 500 saltwater crocodiles. Concerns have been raised over fairness due to the river's natural bends and tidal currents, rather than safety regarding the crocodiles. The state premier dismissed criticism from rowing officials, stating the objections stem from bias against regional venues. Final assessments regarding the venue's design and potential community impact are yet to occur.
