Florida defeated Florida Atlantic 66-21 in its season opener on September 5 at The Swamp. The offense produced 624 total yards, including 343 passing and 281 rushing, marking the highest scoring output for a Florida season opener since 1994. Running back Duke Clark stated the team practiced 10,000 variations of plays during the offseason to prepare for the new offensive scheme implemented by coordinator Buster Faulkner.
