Florida High School Athletic Association sanctions Miami Carol City football program

The Florida High School Athletic Association ordered Miami Carol City to forfeit its season-opening victory against Mainland and a preseason win over West Boca Raton. These sanctions follow an investigation into the use of an ineligible transfer student who participated in activities before officially enrolling. School officials self-reported the violation, which also involved invalid eligibility paperwork. In addition to the forfeits, Miami Carol City received $3,700 in fines and remains on administrative probation until September 1, 2027. The program will also undergo an association audit. The investigation originated from an allegation received on July 10 regarding third-party recruiting. Mainland coach Jerrime Bell expressed disappointment for the student-athletes impacted by the administrative decision. The Chiefs currently maintain high rankings in both the USA TODAY Florida Network Super 25 and the Florida Super 10 Class 2A poll despite the penalties.
