Florida hosts Florida Atlantic to open 2026 football season

Florida opens its 2026 football campaign Saturday against Florida Atlantic at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Kickoff for the in-state matchup is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. ET in Gainesville. The Gators hold a 4-0 all-time series record against the Owls, having outscored their opponent 155-51 across the four previous meetings. All prior games in this series were also held at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The most recent encounter occurred in 2021, when Florida secured a 35-14 victory behind 160 rushing yards from Anthony Richardson. Other notable series results include a 59-20 Florida win in 2007 and a narrow 20-14 overtime victory for the Gators in 2015. This week one game marks the fifth time the two programs have met on the football field.
