Florida State assistant Chris Kent accepts head coaching role with Austin Spurs

Florida State assistant coach and director of player development Chris Kent is departing the program to serve as the head coach of the Austin Spurs. The NBA G League team announced the appointment on Thursday, concluding Kent’s single-season stint with the Seminoles. During his tenure in Tallahassee, Kent contributed to the development of Robert McCray V and assisted with the growth of LaJae Jones, who was drafted by the Golden State Warriors. Kent brings significant professional coaching experience to the Austin franchise, having previously worked with the Rip City Remix and the Windy City Bulls. He now prepares to lead an Austin squad that qualified for the G League playoffs last season with a 20-12 record. Head coach Luke Loucks must now adjust his Florida State staff as the team continues preparations for the 2026-27 season.
