Florida State head coach Mike Norvell faces mounting pressure as his team navigates a challenging 2026 schedule following a difficult season opener. Reports indicate that Norvell’s contract buyout stands at approximately $45 million, a significant financial figure that has reportedly influenced the university's decision-making regarding his job security. The program recently extended Norvell through 2031 after a successful 13-0 regular season in 2023, but the team has since struggled with an 8-17 record over the last three seasons. The university athletic department is now balancing the cost of a potential coaching change against the team's performance trends. Norvell continues to lead the program as it prepares for its upcoming home game against No. 19 SMU.
