Florida State coordinators analyze third-down struggles following loss to SMU

Florida State offensive coordinator Tim Harris Jr. and defensive coordinator Tony White met with media Wednesday to address the team's 27-24 loss to SMU. The Seminoles struggled significantly on third downs, converting only 2-of-15 attempts while allowing SMU to convert at a 57% rate. Harris emphasized a need for better execution and focus on assignment details during offensive sets. White noted that while the defense performed well for the majority of the game, nine specific plays proved costly, including a missed opportunity on the decisive third-and-10 before the winning field goal. Florida State currently holds a 1-1 record and a 0-1 mark within the ACC. The team is now utilizing an upcoming bye week to prepare for their next contest against Alabama on September 19.
