Florida State drops to 50th in college football rankings after loss

Florida State currently holds a 1-1 overall record and an 0-1 standing in ACC play following a 27-24 loss to the SMU Mustangs. Paul Myerberg moved the Seminoles down three spots to No. 50 in his weekly USA TODAY Sports re-rank of 138 FBS teams. The program is now listed as the eighth-best ACC team in those rankings. Florida State struggled to convert on opportunities created by SMU miscues throughout the game. The team enters a bye week before preparing for a road contest against the Alabama Crimson Tide. That game is scheduled for Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m. ET at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
