Florida State hosts SMU for Labor Day matchup at Doak Campbell Stadium

The Florida State Seminoles host the SMU Mustangs on Monday night at Doak Campbell Stadium in a non-conference matchup. Florida State enters the contest coming off a 34-17 win over New Mexico State, while SMU begins its season in Tallahassee. The Mustangs previously defeated the Seminoles 42-16 in their only other meeting during the 2024 season. Florida State staff members highlighted the need for improved third-down defense and a more aggressive passing attack from quarterback Ashton Daniels. The Seminoles look to build on a ground performance that saw the team accumulate 217 rushing yards in the season opener. Meanwhile, SMU enters the game with expectations of competing for the ACC title and a return to the College Football Playoffs under head coach Rhett Lashlee.
