Florida State hosts SMU in ACC opener at Doak Campbell Stadium

Florida State enters its ACC opener against SMU on Monday night with a 2-4 record in conference-opening games during the tenure of head coach Mike Norvell. The Seminoles, currently 1-0 after a 34-17 victory over New Mexico State, look to improve that conference record during their first home ACC opener since 2020. Five of Norvell’s six previous conference openers have been decided by eight points or fewer, including a double-overtime loss to Virginia last season and a last-second field goal loss to Georgia Tech in 2024. The program’s last two conference-opening wins came on the road against Louisville in 2022 and Boston College in 2023. Kickoff for the matchup at Doak Campbell Stadium is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
