Florida State rules out Darryll Desir for ACC opener against SMU

Florida State defensive lineman Darryll Desir will not play in the team's ACC opener against SMU on Monday night. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee. Desir was downgraded to doubtful before ultimately being ruled out for the matchup. His absence creates a vacancy on the defensive front, where Deamontae Diggs is expected to draw the start. In addition to Desir, linebacker Blake Nichelson and wide receivers Tae'shaun Gelsey and K.J. Kirkland are also unavailable for the Seminoles. Florida State enters the contest following a 34-17 victory over New Mexico State in the season opener.
