Flyers explore defenseman trades amid defensive struggles

Summary

The Philadelphia Flyers are reportedly considering trades for defensemen Zach Whitecloud and Simon Edvinsson. Head coach Rick Tocchet criticized the team's defensive efforts following their recent loss to the Washington Capitals. The Flyers aim to enhance their blue line after a quiet offseason, focusing first on defense before potentially seeking a No. 1 center. Whitecloud, currently with the Calgary Flames, is seen as a third-pair upgrade, while Edvinsson, who remains unsigned with the Detroit Red Wings, could offer top-pair potential if he becomes available. The Flyers have expressed interest in Edvinsson but are awaiting developments regarding his contract situation.
